New feature: Issue Health-checks

22 December, 2024 | 2 Min Read

The first release of TicketCoach is available now with the first feature to drop: Issue Health-checks

What can it do?

Once configured, Health Checks are conducted against issues in the projects you have enabled to check them against a set of rules that determine risk. Issues are evaluated each time they are edited or viewed and a summary of the evaluation is available within the Issue itself.

These rules can be turned on or off based on your team’s ways of working and include things like:

  • Does the issue have a due date and is it current?
  • Has the due date been changed multiple times while in flight?
  • Has the sprint been changed multiple times while in flight?
  • Has the issue been in and out of In Progress multiple times?
  • Has the issue been In Progress for longer than is recommended for the type of issue that it is?
  • Has the issue got an Assignee if In Progress?

Some of these rules are more suitable for either Kanban or Scrum and can be turned on / off as required. The number of failed rules that identify Low, Medium and High risk is also able to be configured.

Health Checks also add a custom field called Issue Risk that can be used in JQL to surface risky issues in Saved and Quick Filters.

Who is it for?

Health Checks are for teams who want to be more proactive with identifying the Jira issues that are at risk of delivery or quality defects, and taking measures to improve both these issues and their ways of working.

TicketCoach is designed to work with all flavours of agile and lean. It currently works best for teams using relatively minor customisation of workflows, issue types and schemes but we are looking to improve the extent to which it will work with heavily customised setups.

How does it help?

Being able to identify risk issues during the normal course of work allows teams to have

By analysing current and previous Medium and High-Risk issues, TicketCoach Health Checks help teams to identify and address some of the factors that contribute to these issue.

Whats next?

As well as working with customers like yourself on any feedback you might have, we will be:

  • Adding more rules to cover more ways of working
  • Allowing configuration options for rules and per-project configuration to help teams further tailor the experience.
  • Working on our other upcoming features
